SADC Course in Statistics Developing a sampling strategy (Session 05)

To put your footer here go to View > Header and Footer 2 Learning Objectives By the end of this session, you will be able to have a broader view of the issues involved in developing a sampling scheme for a real life situation recognise difficulties caused by lack of information about the study population and approaches that might to taken to overcome these appreciate how common sense plays a key role in developing a sensible sampling scheme

To put your footer here go to View > Header and Footer 3 The task This session is largely a practical one, done in discussion within small groups Working in groups of about 4 persons per group, you will read the handout provided to you, discuss possible sampling schemes, and arrive at some recommendations The last 45 minutes of this session will be spent with 2 or three groups presenting their sampling scheme for discussion and comment.

To put your footer here go to View > Header and Footer 4 Some remarks Note that this exercise is being deliberately given to you towards the early part of this module because in practice, the use of common sense can result in very good sampling schemes. The aim is to see how well you can do with the limited information available to you.
