9 December 2013 Information Interview Findings Sierra Malia Fransen

General Information ✤ Industry: Fashion ✤ Person: Sarah Harlem ✤ 9 December 2013: 6:00am, phone interview (Aspen to New York City) ✤ Senior Accountant ✤ Interview Length: 10 minutes

SAR: Situation and Action ✤ I’ve got loads of books, movies, magazines, and television shows piled up from about age 5. ✤ I used text messaging, which actually is one of the most efficient ways to communicate with people in the fashion industry considering most people tend to have one or two cell phones and are always on the go so could potentially be unable to accept calls. ✤ I asked questions such as...

How do you go about getting Internships in this industry?

Are there any abilities that would be helpful in this industry?

Does your work require travel?

What’s in your bag?

What is a typical day for you?

What kind of person would not want your job?

What are three downsides to your job?

What kind of person would make it to the top in this industry?

Results ✤ Upon doing my research, I have found that there really is no right answer to schooling. Fashion school may seem like the most obvious choice, but in most cases, it hasn’t been. It really depends on what sector you plan on going into.

Results pt. 2 ✤ I still like the industry. Because I have friends in the industry and have talked to people, I really have always seen the darker side to it and I feel as though I have come to accept all of those things.

Results pt. 3 ✤ Getting into this industry is really about getting names and paying dues.

Other Opportunities
