A short summary (Book 1) Maus, book 1 entails the life of Vladek Spiegelman portrayed by his son Artie. Vladek meets Anja, his future wife, in Sosnowiec. The Germans begin to persecute the Jews and Vladek’s company in Bielsko is robbed. Basically, the first book entails his journeys hiding from the Germans and procuring jobs and food from friendly poles, as well as Vladek’s short time in a POW camp.

Maus, Book 2 Finally Vladek reaches Auschwitz, here he is generally ok for time He teaches a polish Kapo English, works as a Tinman, and as a shoemaker, all of which save him from the brunt of the horror of Auschwitz Anja is not so lucky Eventually he ends up doing the grunt working - moving bodies and stones Later he contracts Typhus – but he stays in the infirmary and recovers
