Country Essay – Gathering Information (Day Three)

Overview You will be writing a five paragraph essay using the five themes of geography to describe a country of Southeast Asia or Oceania You will begin by researching your country – The “Country Essay Information” sheet will help you figure out what kind of information you are looking for and organize what you find

General Information Sites Today you will gather information for your essay from a number of sites: – Country Reports Go to mhs.mcsd.org, click on “Library” and then “MHS Library,” then click on “Country Reports” – BBC Country Profiles Go to or search for “BBC Country Profiles” and select your countryhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/country_profiles/default.stm – Search for specific issues about your country using Google or another search engine, but make sure that the websites you find are reliable First, figure out what the in-text citation should be for each site – In-text citations for internet sources are the name of the webpage in parenthesis and quotations Next, look throughout the page on your country and put any information that you find on the “Country Essay Information” sheet
