Galaxies in the Universe By Ashley Echang Activity targeted for 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th grade.

Can anyone guess what this is?

That is a spiral galaxy! There are multiple types of galaxies such as the Spiral, Elliptical, Lenticular or a Peculiar galaxy. Galaxies are classified by their shapes. You can view galaxies from telescopes such as the very popular Hubble Space Telescope. Galaxies are made up of billions of stars.

Let’s Play Jeopardy! We will split into 3 equal groups. Everyone will sit in a line in their chairs and will take turns on answering questions. The first person will choose the question they want to answer by reading the section first followed by the amount they want out of 100, 200, 300 or 400. There will also be a chance to bet however many points they want of their groups overall points with the two random Daily Doubles. When a player gets a question wrong they lose that amount of points from their overall group score.

What have we learned about galaxies? Andromeda Galaxy, the closest spiral galaxy to us.
