DANCE By: Tasha Grout

Why I like Dance Dancing is like breathing, sleeping, eating…it’s a necessity. Someone once told me, "Dance is your pulse, your heartbeat, your breathing. It's the rhythm of your life. It's the expression in time and movement, in happiness, joy, sadness and envy." For me it is all of that. —Guest ElexisAnn August 2, 2012 | Daniel Mollner how i celebrate the mystery, explore my boundaries, exceed my limitations, embrace my woundedness, feel and heal, touch the root of what makes us one, and of course, it's fun!

How I got interested in dance I was put into dance when I was 3 years old, and have been doing it ever since. I watched shows like “so you think you can dance” and “dancing with the stars”

What it involves You can go in shoes, bare feet, foot undies, or ballet shoes Clothing you can move easily in (sweat pants, leggings, dance shorts, t shirt or tank top. Music And most important … YOU

Why other people should try Dance is liberating (if you allow it to be). Working out is a chore. Dance can make you feel beautiful and powerful. Dance makes you more interesting Its fun and easy Anyone can dance

Famous Dancers Shane Sparks Best known for his work on So You Think You Can Dance and America’s Best Dance Crew, he is a world-renowned hip-hop dancer and choreographer. He has worked with names such as Aaliyah, Monica and Lindsay Lohan – to name a few. Les Twins The Les Twins are identical brothers of French descent. They are recognized internationally for their new style hip-hop talents. They have won several hip-hop awards including the World of Dance in 2010. They’ve been highlighted on BET, Good Morning America, the Ellen DeGeneres Show and have worked with people like Beyoncé, Kanye West and Timberland Misty Copeland . Misty Copeland is an American ballet dancer for American Ballet Theatre, one of the three leading classical ballet companies in the United States

Misty Copeland “Ballet has long been the province of the white and wealthy. Our daily toe-crushing exercises make pointe shoes as disposable as tissues, but they can cost as much as $80 a pair. I came from a San Pedro, California, family that didn't always have enough food to eat, let alone money to spend on a hobby, and it wasn't until I was 13 years old that I could even take my first ballet class. Most of my dance peers had grown up immersed in the arts, putting on their first tutus not long after they learned to talk. They had summered in Europe, while I didn't get my first passport until I was 17. Their families had weekend homes. I had spent part of my adolescence living on the floor of a shabby motel with my single mom. But I also stood out in another, even more profound, way. I was a little brown-skinned girl in a sea of whiteness” Copeland has been open about her struggles and unlikely path to making history as the third black female soloist in the history of the American Ballet Theatre, (and the first in 20 years) but the difference here is the story is fully told strictly on her terms.

Styles of dance Jazz Hip hop Lyrical Ballet Pointe Modern Tap Ball room Street dance And MANY more

Dance is a sport! In dance we compete sometimes as. Team and others as individuals. We sweat, work, get injured, bleed and we dance through it all because we are passionate. We have the arms, abs and legs. We carry other dancers (working as a team) and though the routine is rehearsed choreography's can be forgotten or a dancer can fall and get hurt. We run, kick and jump like baseball players, basketball players and football players and we do more because besides doing that gracefully, better and with a smile we can do more and do it better (in not saying these sports are easy or don't require talent to etc.). We compete. There are rules such as: needing a straight leg, turn out, pointed toes and etc. Besides all that we have flexibility and yes strength because if not we couldn't do splits standing up or in the air or help other dancers jump high or turn faster. The hardest part of all is making it look effortless, that's probably why the ones that say no think it's so easy.
