Character List The Greasers

Ponyboy Curtis . light brown hair, greenish-gray eyes. hair is long in the back and squared off at the sides.

Darrel “Darry” Curtis . oldest Curtis brother. works full time to take care of Ponyboy and Sodapop because their parents died in a car accident. 6’2’, tall, muscular, black hair, and pale blue-green eyes .

Sodapop Curtis . dark-gold hair, dark brown eyes. gets drunk just on living. understands everyone.

Steve Randle . 17 years old, tall and lean with thick greasy hair knows cars upside down and backward. hates when Ponyboy tags along with him and Soda.

Keith “Two Bit” Matthews . six feet tall, stocky and proud of his long rusty-colored sideburns. likes fights, blondes and school, is still in 11th grade.

Dallas “Dally” Winston . blonde almost white hair, blue eyes that showed a hatred of the world. tougher, colder, and meaner than the rest of the gang.

Johnny Cade . big black eyes, jet-black hair heavily greased. had a nervous, suspicious look. father beat him and his mother ignored him.

Character List The Socs

Cherry Valance . a Soc cheerleader that Ponyboy knows from school. her real name is Sherry, but she is called Cherry because of her red hair. Ponyboy feels comfortable talking to Cherry because they have a lot in common. Admires Dally’s individuality and says she could fall in love with him.

Marcia . Cherry’s best friend and Randy’s girlfriend. Befriends Two-Bit at the drive-in.

Bob Sheldon . The dark-haired Soc who beats up Johnny before the novel begins. Bob’s lenient parents have never disciplined him.

Randy Adderson . A handsome Soc who doesn’t see the point of fighting. Helps Ponyboy realize that Socs do have problems.

Paul Holden the husky blond Soc who steps forward to challenge Darry when the rumble begins. .
