The Process of Creation

Modern Scientific View Scientists claim that initially there was a huge energy mass which was extremely dense and extremely hot. How this mass came to be they cannot say. But they insist that is how it was in the beginning.

The Vedic View Entire spiritual and material universe is created by the Supreme Lord Himself

The Vedic View Entire spiritual and material universe is created by the Supreme Lord Himself

The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna, existed before creation.

Krishna expands Himself into innumerable parts and portions, incarnations jivas etc

Sarga: Primary creation of matter and elements Visarga: Secondary creation by Lord Brahma

The Need For Creation To establish and enhance the various loving relationships between the Lord and all of His expansions. To correct those living entities (jiva) about their mistakes and to reestablish their loving relationship with the Lord

Sarga : The Primary Creation Lord Krishna does not directly create the spiritual or the material universes. He does it through His incarnations. The entire function of creation, maintenance etc. is carried out by His first immediate expansion, Lord Balarama.

Sarga : The Primary Creation Lord Balarama’s energy is the source of the existence of the innumerable spiritual planets, the residential palaces, forests, clothing, paraphernalia there as well as many other amazing things.

Lord Balarama VasudevaSankarsanaNarayanaVasudeva 2 nd Sankarsana (Maha Sankarsana) Karana Daksayi Vishnu Garbhodaksa yi Vishnu Ksirodaksayi Vishnu Aniruddha Pradyumna AniruddhaPradyumna

The Lord creates the spiritual universe using His energy in the ratio of 3 parts to 1 of material energy. Material Energy or Maya is in one corner of the spiritual universe

What is Pradhana? Pradhana is the subtlest form of matter Eternal Subtle undifferentiated sum total of all material elements Saguna Brahman- Brahman with qualities – From SP purport to Brahman mixed with 3 qualities of goodness, passion and ignorance results in material expansion called as saguna Brahmana - consist of 25 material elements including time factor Nirguna Brahmana is not mixed with modes, found in spiritual world- unalloyed goodness prevails where nirguna brahmana is found From Bhurijana Prabhu's book “ Unveiling His Lotus Feet Pages 609 to 620”

The Maha Vishnu expanded from Sankarsana enters the Karana Ocean and lies there. He is also known as Karanadakasayi Vishnu. He is very very large! He then takes rest or we call it yoga nidra.

The prime divine avatara lying in the spiritual Causal Ocean is such a great affair that in the pores of His divine form spring up myriads of seeds of the universes. Those series of universes are the perverted reflections of the infinite transcendental region. As long as they remain embedded in His divine form they embody the principle of spiritual reflection having the form of golden eggs. Brahma Samhita 5.13

They are then covered by five great elements (earth, water, fire, air, ether). These universes are created during the exhalation of the Lord. Reference: Nevertheless by the creative desire of Maha-Visnu the minute particles of the great elements, which are constituents of the mundane efficient and material causal principles, envelop them. When those golden sperms, coming out with the exhalation of Maha-Visnu, enter into the unlimited accommodating chamber of the limited potency (Maya) they become enlarged by the nonconglomerate great elements. Brahma Samhita 5.13

Material energy/Maya Pradhana They enter the material energy, Maya, which is on the other side of the Viraja river (Causal Ocean). As they enter they grow in size. Causal Ocean

Material energy or Maya Causal Ocean Maha Vishnu then glances at the material energy. Up to this point the material energy is inert or inanimate. It is sometimes called pradhana. During the pradhana stage all the elements are inert, undifferentiated and unmanifest.

Material energy or Maya Causal Ocean By the Lord’s glance, He impregnates the material nature with the living entities. The personality Sambhu (Lord Siva) assists the Lord by transferring the jivas into the material energy. The Lord does not touch the material nature. He does so via Lord Siva. Lord Siva’s abode is on the edge of the Viraja river. Jivas +Karma

At this point all the golden universe are covered up by the five elements and they are all clustered together. At the same time there are 18 other inanimate elements waiting to act.

Material energy or Maya Causal Ocean Nothing moves until the original controlling deity of each of the elements in each universe prays to Maha Vishnu for help in creation. He then impregnates time into the material energy. With the impregnation of time, material energy becomes prakriti which then transforms to mahatattva. TIME The three stages of matter are compared to a woman (pradhana stage) who is made pregnant (prakriti stage) and then delivers (mahat-tattva stage)

Difference between Pradhana and Mahat Tattva Pradhana impregnated with the Lord’s potent energy becomes known as mahat tattva The Lord’s Potent energy can be understood as : – – viryah(The Lord’s semen)- His internal Potency – Jiva Goswami describes it as conditioned souls – Mahavishnu's glance consists of time, the living entities and their karma

23 material elements Total Material energyFalse EgoSound TouchFormTaste SmellEarthWater FireAirSky EyeEarNose TongueSkinHand LegEvacuating OrganGenitals SpeechMind All are combined together by the influence of time and are again dissolved in the course of time.

MahaVishnu ----  Garbhodaksayi Vishnu-----  into every golden universe Garbhodaksayi  Ksirodaksayi Vishnu(Supersoul)-  enters into every artom and the hearts of every living entity MAHAVISHNU GARBHODAKSAYI VISHNUKSIRODAKSAYI VISHNU

Time Time, therefore, is the energy of the Lord and acts in her own way by the direction of the Lord. This energy is called Kali and is represented by the dark destructive goddess generally worshiped by persons influenced by the mode of darkness or ignorance in material existence.

Then the Lord’s universal form (Virat rupa) becomes established.

The Garbhodakasayi Vishnu lies on Sesa on the Garbhodaka ocean which fills half the universe. With Him He brings the mahatattva and the jivas into the golden universe.

When the desires of the living entities are strong, the Lord sprouts a golden lotus from His navel. The first born, Brahma is brought into this universe. The lotus is said to be the reservoir of all the living entities within this universe.

Visarga: Secondary Creation by Lord Brahma When Brahma appeared from the lotus, he was bewildered at first. He ventured around and became afraid. He heard a voice instructing him to perform tapasya. So he performs tapasya for 2,160,000,000 years. The Lord then reveals Himself in Brahma’s heart. He is then initiated with the Gayatri mantra.

Thereafter Brahma started the creation of many other elements as well as the upper, middle and lower planetary system and living entities’ bodies.

He creates his mental sons and then tells them to populate the universe.

He also gives them all the Vedas.

Lord Brahma lives for 311,040,000,000,000 of our years. At the end of his life the entire creation of all the universes are destroyed by the Rudras. This is called total annihilation.

Total annihilation

The universes then are all absorbed back into Maha Vishnu until the Lord decides to start the creation again.
