Fact Sheet: Early Head Start Massachusetts Home Visiting Initiative Model Fact Sheet PROGRAM SPECIFICS Population & age served Current service area in top 17 MA at-risk communities Data Collection Mechanism Pregnant, children birth to age 3 Boston, Fall River, Holyoke, Lowell, Lynn, Springfield, Southbridge, Worcester Online database EHS KEY COSTS: Start-UP COST: N/A AVERAGE ANNUAL AGENCY COST: $1 million - $2 million per year per 100/200 families (In MA cost per family per year is $10K including center-based care) HOME VISIT LOGISTICS: Home Visitors: Paraprofessional Home Visitors Caseload per Home Visitor: 12 Families Program Caseload in MA: 116 pregnant women / 242 children Onset, Duration, Frequency of Visits: 1 home visit per family per week for a minimum of 90 minutes & weekly or bi-monthly (2x/wk) socialization groups * year-round EHS PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: CHILD SCREENING: All children receive developmental & sensory screening inc. cognitive, behavioral, vision, hearing & a dental exam.
