Presentation transcript:

 Dr.Eliyahu Goldratt applied his theory of constraints(TOC) to the pratice of project mgt producing called critical chain.

 A way of thinking & pbm solving  Applicable to any discipline  Derived from systems theory

 To identify the constraints.  Arrange the system to concentrate  Exploit the constraints in any way.

1. Identify the systems’ constraints. 2. Decide how to exploit the systems’ constraints. 3. Subordinate everything else to the above decision 4. Elevate the systems’ constraints.  If a constraint has been broken, goto step 1

 To focus on increasing throughput of the total systems.  Concentrate on optimizing the pieces of a systems.

 Longest path thru the N/W, both activities & resources.  Set of process & practices for PM

 Set of dependent tasks  Define the expected lower limit of projects’ possible lead time.

 Used to determine the critical chain  Includes  Logical hand off dependencies  Resource dependencies
