Food Security Economics Governmental measures for food security in India Food Security Buffer Stock Public Distribution System Buffer Stock is the stock of food grains, namely wheat and rice procured by the government through Food Corporation of India (FCI). Any family with a ration card can buy the reserved portion of food grains every months from the nearest ration shops at a subsidized price. There are three kinds of ration cards: (a) Antyodaya cards for the poorest of the poor; (b) BPL cards for those below poverty line; and (c) APL cards for all others.
