History of England The first ancestors of British people came from the continent of Europe. About 400 BC a group of people called Celts came to Britain. Then in 43 AD the Romans came. They built straight roads and many towns. Then the Anglo- Saxons invaded Britain. The Vikings conquered North-east England and Scotland. The last invasion of Britain was in In that year the Normans attacked England.
