Flow/Current Meter It measures the velocity (speed) of flowing, stream, irrigation canal, or storm water run off. The meter consists of a impeller on the end of a sampling rod. Water Velocity is calculated based on the speed that the impeller turns when its inserted in to the water. Velocity is recorded in feet per second (fps).

pH Meter An electronic device with a sensor that indicates if a solution is alkaline or a acidic solution. A pH of 7 indicates that the substance is neutral.

Data Recorder Data Recorders or Loggers store daily data in forests like temperature, relative humidity, and light intensity. Helps foresters guess when forest fires are more likely.

Water Sampler A plastic chamber with spring-loaded ends that can be closed remotely. The sampler is attached to a rope and lowered to the desired depth. Triggering the device seals in a water sample. The same provides information and other characteristics of the water sample at the tested water depth

Water Test Kits Contains al the materials to analyze for nitrate, phosphorus, pH, carbon dioxide, chlorides, ammonia, sulfide, silica, hardness, and alkalinity.

Soil Sampler

Soil Test Kit The kit may include plastic tubes, solutions, reagents, sample bags, instructions, and color charts for comparing results. Foresters may use test kits in the field but the best results, samples should be submitted to a lab for a complete analysis.

Field Microscope Similar to a hand lens. Instead of providing a 10x or 14x magnification power, the field microscope provides a 25x or 30x power.

Plant Press A wooden frame with straps, used to press leaves. Leaves are placed between two sheets of blotter paper, stacked and secured in the frame. The straps are tightened compressing the leaf material. The plant material dries and can be mounted in a protective case in a few days.
