Goal: Finding the LCM of 2 or more numbers

Goal: Find the LCM of 2 or more numbers  You and your three friends go to lunch and find a deal on packages of 6 tacos. You want to buy the minimum number of packages so you each get the same number of tacos and none are left over. How many packages must you buy?

1 st List the multiples of both numbers. 4: 4, 8,12,16, 20, 24, 28 6: 6,12,18, 24 2 nd look for the smallest number they both have (LCM) RD Evaluate: to get 12 tacos I need to buy how many packages? 2 packages of tacos Goal: Find the LCM of 2 or more numbers You and your three friends go to lunch and find a deal on packages of 6 tacos. You want to buy the minimum number of packages so you each get the same number of tacos and none are left over. How many packages must you buy?

 List Multiples of 8 and 6  8: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40  6: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30  Evaluate: It will take 24 minutes for both joggers to arrive at their starting point together.  One trip around a running track is 440 yards. One jogger can complete one lap in 8 minutes, the other can complete it in 6 minutes. How long will it take for both joggers to arrive at their starting point together if they start at the same time and maintain their jogging pace? Goal: Find the LCM of 2 or more numbers

 You can make groups of 3, 4, or 9 pencils with none left over. What is smallest number of pencils you must have to make these groups? Goal: Find the LCM of 2 or more numbers 36 pencils needed

Goal: Find the LCM of 2 or more numbers

 GCF of 4, 6, and 12  4: 1,2,4  6: 1,2,3,6  12: 1,2,3,4,6,12  The GCF is 2  LCM of 4,6 and 12  4: 4,8,12,16,20,24  6: 6,12,18,24  12: 12,24  The LCM is 12 Goal: Find the LCM of 2 or more numbers

 Homework: Worksheet: Numbers: - Goal: Find the LCM of 2 or more numbers
