THE WORD for all of this year except part of Lent and Easter is based on the Gospel of Luke

OLD TESTAMENT Jeremiah Blessed are those who trust in the Lord

Psalm 1 Response: How joyful are the hearts of all who trust in the Lord

EPISTLE 1 st Corinthians – 20 Jesus has been raised from the dead

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Cantor: alleluia People repeat: Deacon: verse People: alleluia

GOSPEL LUKE The heart of the teaching of Jesus

THE CREED: We believe in one God the Father the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen (pause). We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us & for our salvation he came down from heaven. By the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary & was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, suffered death & was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures, he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living & the dead & his kingdom will have no end (pause). We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father & the Son. With the Father & the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken thro the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic & apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look forward to the resurrection of the dead & the life of the world to come.

PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL There are samples of prayer on each row for those who feel able to read them out. Lord in your mercy: hear our prayer

You shall cross the barren desert But you shall not die of thirst You shall wander far in safety Though you do not know the way You shall speak your word 2 foreigners And they shall understand You shall see the face of God and live! Be not afraid, I go before you always Come follow me & I shall give you rest

If you pass through raging waters If you pass through raging waters In the sea you shall not drown If you walk amid the burning flames You shall not be harmed If you stand before the power of hell And death is at your side Know that I am with you through it all Be not afraid, I go before you always Come follow me and I will give you rest Blessed are you poor For the kingdom shall be yours Blest are you that weep and mourn For one day you shall laugh And if wicked folk insult and hate you All because of me Blessed, blessed are you.
