1 QXF heater parameters G. Chlachidze, M. Marchevsky March 13, 2014

2 Introduction QXF protection heater (PH) design development currently in progress. Two major design options are under consideration:  stainless steel strips with heating stations,  copper cladded stainless steel strips with or without heating stations. As a risk reduction PH of different design could be tested in first SQXF models. We need to decide if strain gauge wiring could be included in the inner layer trace. At last meeting we agreed to develop a list of basic electrical parameters of the heater circuit to be used in the heater design developments. These parameters are developed for SQXF and LQXF coils and could be revisited in future for MQXF coils.

3 List of Heater Parameters Peak power density: W/cm2 HFU voltage:up to 450 V HFU current:up to 220 A HFU capacitance: mF Distance between heating stations:< 120 mm Heating station width:12-40 mm Insulation thickness:1 mil Kapton Coil surface coverage:< 50% IL ???
