MICA Da’wah Training Series H

What is the essence of da’wah? To make more people worship Allah To make already worshippers better Muslims This is achieved by: Shahadah for the new Muslim Nasihah for the already Muslim

Who should do da’wah? Is primarily the work of the prophets and messengers It is now the primary duty of Muslims Organised da’wah 1.If some Muslims are doing it then it lifts the sin from others 2.If no one is doing it then it becomes compulsory on every Muslim until it is established

Two Types of Guidance (Hidaya) 1.Hidayat ul irshaad: Our Duty – Trying to direct someone to the truth 2.Hidayat ul tawfiq: From Allah – When Allah opens a persons heart to Islam.

Obstacles on the Path of the da’iy to getting Shahadah 1.Expecting Instant Results 2. “I don’t have enough knowledge” 3. “I myself am in need of dawah” 4. Too Shy 5. Not knowing who you’re talking to

The Various Da’wah Methods 1. Pamphlet pushing 2. Group Dawah 3. One-on-one style street Dawah 4. One-on-one sit down Dawah 5. Internet Dawah 6. Indirect Dawah

Da’wah methods for MICA Medical Caravan One-on-one street da’wah – Time is of the essence. Be efficient – Move in groups of 2 to 6 – Take security and environment into consideration – Consider the language One-on-one sit down – Diagnose the person and apply remedy – You have more time but still use your time well – Listen, don’t interrupt – If they repeat an argument, re-phrase and say it back to them

Dos and Don’ts of Da’wah MICA Da’wah Training

Dos: 1. Be patient: be prepared to run across people who don’t want your dawah 2. Be neat and clean in appearance 3. Be straight forward 4. Ask for a name 5. Find out the beliefs of your prospect

Dos: 6. Smile. 7. Avoid unnecessary confrontations, arguments… simply move on! 8. Have a partner with you. 9. Be focused on your task and keep the ball rolling. 10. Use simple language. 11. Understand needs, obstacles and issues.

Dos: 12. Listen with your eyes and your ears % of communication is nonverbal 13. Get your Prospect to listen: – Nod – Use open gestures – Lean forward – Maintain eye contact but don’t stare 14. Find points to agree upon. Present them with concepts that will get you a ‘yes’. 15. Acknowledge their questions as intelligent – " That’s a good question" – “I'm actually glad you brought that point up” – “I can see why you understood it that way” 16. Avoid human obstacles (partner)

Dos: Most important: Make the Sale! Ask prospect to become a Muslim

Don’ts: 1.Don’t start by attacking or being aggressive 2.Don’t be evasive 3.Never use the 'lets not push him’ technique 4.Never interrupt a person giving da’wah – unless for a VERY GOOD REASON or you have a good point your partner overlooked 5.Don’t get into a negotiation. 6.Don’t Give up if the person seems uninterested or makes fun of you. 7.Don’t Falsify nor exaggerate information 8.Don’t Misrepresent Islam’s position regarding the other party 9.Don’t MAKE A JUDGEMENT BASED ON LOOKS!

Quick Posers: How do you get a Christian to accept Islam in 10mins? – I am satisfied with christianity – Can God do everything? – How many gods were there in 3 days that Jesus died? How do you address human obstacles? How do you address language barriers? How do you deal with misconceptions about Islam

Practical Sessions MICA Da’wah Training

MICA Da’wah Message - Guide Observe all Do’s and Don’ts Emphasise on the importance of shahadah Emphasise the two parts of shahadah Understand the listener (pay attention to issues and obstacles) Apply diagnosis and remedy – If Muslim – Nasihah – If non-Muslim – Ask for Shahadah If there are still more issues, refer appropriately to one-on-one sit down desk

Importance and parts of Shahadah There is an urgency attached to pronouncing the shahadah – Must never be delayed – Must be said before death comes It is compulsory to make the testimony as entry point into the faith of Islam The full content of the shahadah (2 Parts) – I testify that there is no diety worthy of worship but Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah on him) is His messenger

MICA Da’wah Message Primary focus is Tawhid
