2 points Context By Jacqui and Lucy The Curious Incident of the dog in the night time

“I tell them that he had two numbers, one for at home and one which was a mobile phone and I said both of them.” (pg.17) “…Cutting her hedge with an electric hedge–trimmer.” (Pg.50) With the use of “electric” devices being used within this story, suggests that the world Christopher lived in was in at technology era.

“…then I went to one of the machines and their was a little screen which said PRESS TICKET TYPE and I pressed the button that most people have pressed which was ADULT SINGLE and ₤ 2.20 and the screen said INSERT ₤ 2.20…and screen said TAKE TICKET AND CHANGE…” (pg.213)

“…I played minesweeper and I played the expert version…” (pg.253) “Yes. I like computers. I have computer at home in my bedroom.” (Pg.70)

“…WARNING CCTV IN OPERATION.” (pg.180) “…No smoking…” (pg.181) Both these quotes show that the time this book was set in is a fairly modern world, due to the fact that the law of no smoking indoors only came in in 2007, shows that for the train station to have up signs saying “no smoking” must mean it is set in the modern world. Also CCTV is a quite a new invention which indicates that the book must have been set in the last 20 years or so.

“there is not a university in our town, which is Swindon, because it is a small place.” (Pg.57) From this quote and these pictures you can clearly see the location of which Christopher Boone lives. It tells us that the town he lives in is fairly small and limited.
