THE DEPARTMENT OF DIPLOMATIC TRANSLATION

ABOUT DEPARTMENT The foreign languages Department of International Relations Faculty of KazNU named after al-Farabi was founded in 1992 with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2011 through the merger of two previously existing departments – the Department of Foreign Languages and the Department of Modern Oriental languages was founded the Department of Diplomatic Translation, International Relations Faculty of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi. The specialization reflects the specificity of the faculty: the study of foreign languages is closely connected with the study of government and political structure of the country of studied language, its history, culture and traditions. The chair of diplomatic translation provides language training of students of the faculty of international relations, respectively the specialization of students in the areas of international relations, "international law", "area studies" and "world economy" and learning two foreign languages. The Department provides professionally-oriented teaching Kazakh as the state language, English, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, German, Turkish and French languages as the primary and a second foreign language.

Scientific activity Main directions of research and innovation activities are carried out within the research work of Kazakh National University named after al Farabi. The researches of teaching staff are devoted to actual problems of linguistics, history and theory of language, theory and practice of translation, linguistics and culture studies, the reform of higher education and school education. The works of teaching staff are published in national and international journals. The totality and nature of the published papers are of great scientific and applied importance.
