CLASSIC BOARD GAMES Chess, Stratego, Risk Static board and components Fixed rules Same game with varying strategies every time.

RPG BOARD GAMES Dynamic boards Configuration changes every game Quest based rules Ex. Descent, Settlers of catan, Twilight Imporium

HYBRID CONCEPT Starts with a static board and components as usual. Pick a race, choose a starting point, spread out, conquer territories. Goal: Achieve global domination. Eliminate all opponents Build a victory monument Collect 4 Stars  Control a continent  Amass resources etc. Mission cards with rewards. Modified Map of Risk Board Game used only for illustration

CUSTOMIZE YOUR GAME Choices of the players during the game effects the future games. Control a continent for 5 games – Name the continent permanently. Amass resources for 5 games – Wealthy trader. Add a permanent naval route between any two territories. Win 2 consecutive games – Establish a city in a territory and name it. Players get to create and destroy the components permanently. WHAT MORE ? Journal to record history of game. Sealed pouches opened when specific action occurs. Add more content to the game. GAMEPLAY SKILLS Different types of units each with its own attack and defence skills. Manoeuvres of units across territories for strong defence or attack formations. Battle strategies and missions for collecting stars involve reasoning. Deck of cards add randomness to quests and powers. Euro-style board game. Stochastic, Partial Information game.

THEME Fantasy novels – Game of thrones, LOTR, Hobbit etc. History – Vijayanagara Empire wars, Mouryan wars, World wars etc. Mythology – Mahabharat Fictional story Pros/Cons ? Novels, History and mythology have linear & fixed plot. Less surprises and customization. Fictional story  Can have non-linear & unexplored plot.  Allow players to create their own story, lots of surprises and more customization.
