Famous Landmark In the World 世界名胜 制作: 越秀区 杨汉德

A landmark is a famous building which makes a place different from the rest of the world. A landmark is often a building in a size which has not been built before, such as the Forbidden City ( 紫禁城 ) in China.

Landmarks are an important part of a place. Tiananmen is a famous landmark of Beijing.

The Great Wall is the landmark of our great country. People in the world are interesting because of its history. Every year people from everywhere come to visit the Great Wall.

When people visit New York, they see the Statue of Liberty ( 自由女神像 ). It is the first view of America, and it is the symbol of the country.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa (比萨斜塔) is the landmark in Italy. When people stand next to the tower, they imagine the wars between two cities. Because of the wars, the building work on the tower lasted 197 years.

Think of Paris and most people imagine the Eiffel Tower ( 艾菲尔 铁塔 ), a monument to the France Revolution. (法国革命纪念碑) It would be easy to Build another Eiffel Tower elsewhere, but it would not be the same.

Tower Bridge (伦敦塔桥) has stood over the River Thames in London since 1894 and is one of the most famous bridge in the World.

The Sydney Opera House is the landmark of Australia. Its special styles amaze the people. The designer is an unknown Danish man named Jorn Utzon.
