UNIT 4: ANALYZING DATA REVIEW TRIVIA GAME

HOW IT WORKS Each round will have 3 questions. The topics for the three questions will be listed at the beginning. You will be able to wager 1, 2, and 3 points once each per round. For instance, if you bet 3 points on the first question, you cannot use it again that round. In the 2 nd round, points are doubled. In the 3 rd round, points are tripled. At the end of three rounds, the team can pick how much to wager for the final question. Winner is whoever ends up with the most points.

ROUND 1

ROUND 1: POINT VALUES ARE 1, 2, AND 3 Q1: 1-Variable Characteristic Q2: 1-Variable Characteristic Q3: 1-Variable Characteristic

Q1: 1-VARIABLE CHARACTERISTIC 5, 6, 3, 4, 8, 12, 23, 8, 7, 14 Find the mean.

Q2: 1-VARIABLE CHARACTERISTIC 5, 6, 3, 4, 8, 12, 23, 8, 7, 14 Find the lower quartile.

Q3: 1-VARIABLE CHARACTERISTIC 5, 6, 3, 4, 8, 12, 23, 8, 7, 14 Find the IQR.

ROUND 2

ROUND 2: POINT VALUES ARE 2, 4, AND 6 Q1: 1-Variable Characteristics Q2: Correlation vs. Causation Q3: Box-And-Whisker Plot

Q1: 1-VARIABLE CHARACTERISTICS 5, 6, 3, 4, 8, 12, 23, 8, 7, 14 Find the mean absolute deviation.

Q2: CORRELATION OR CAUSATION There is a positive relationship between the number of ice cream cones sold and the number of drowning deaths in a month. Is this correlation or causation?

Q3: BOX-AND-WHISKER PLOTS What is the IQR?

ROUND 3

ROUND 3: POINT VALUES ARE 3, 6, AND 9 Q1: Line of Best Fit Q2: Symmetry Q3: Correlation

Q1: LINE OF BEST FIT What is the line of best fit and the correlation coefficient for the following data? X y

Q2: SYMMETRY What is symmetry of the above function?

Q3: CORRELATION What can you say about the linear correlation of the following graph?

FINAL ROUND

FINAL ROUND: RESIDUALS The teacher will now tell you how many points you have earned. You may wager up to that number of points. Please print that number on your sheet and bring it up to her now.

FINAL QUESTION: RESIDUALS What is the residual for the first term of the following set of data? X y
