SHORT TERM EVS in ZAVOD MANIPURA, SLOVENIA

About us Zavod Manipura is a small NGO with a lot of experiences in EVS. We‘ve been an accredited hosting & sending organisation from 2008 and so far we‘ve hosted more than 60 volunteers from many different countries. We organise workshops and free time activities for local children and youngsters like sports, outdoor activities, creative activities, playing games, thematic evenings... From 2008 till present we've organised this activities at different places, but on 1.st of March 2015 we are going to open our own Children and Youth Centre in Poljče, next to Begunje na Gorenjskem.

The house is situated in the sunny place in the village Poljče, next to Begunje na Gorenjskem. It has 2 floors and the attic. Our Urška & her son Vane, 5 years old, will live in the ground floor and she‘ll be there to help you with all the practical questions. Like a nice mummy, when you need her. The volunteers will live in the first floor. There are 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room with a sunny terrace and a bathroom. Each bedroom is for two volunteers! There is a big garden around the house. The volunteers will get 6 EUR food money per day and they will cook their own meals. To get around, each volunteer will have a bike and a bus ticket to the nearest town Radovljica.

What can you do at our place? In the first months a big part of the work of the volunteers will be helping with the cleaning, building and renovating the attic – we have to change the attic into a nice place for the activities with children. We'll make an additional sleeping room, a bathroom, small kitchen and a big room for the workshops there. Strong and handy boys are welcome. There will be also work outside – we have to make a playground, a small sport field, a fire place, the stables for the animals (we'll buy small animals – a rabbit, chicken, a dog, cats, a pig and a goat) and a garden to grow the veggies in the ecological way. Next to this we'll organize activities for local children – sport activities, fairytales, playing games, creative workshops, drama, dancing… The ideas and the skills of the volunteers are very welcome! We don't expect to have many children joining the activities in the first months, because first they have to get used to the idea that such a centre exists in their village. We are also going to prepare some workshops for people with dissabilities and help old people who need practical help, like cleaning the snow in the winter. The volunteers will have many opportunities to be useful and creative!

What can you do in your free-time? Our place is perfect for the volunteers who like nature. You can walk in the forrests, hike in the mountains, bike, swim in the famous lake Bled which is only 10km away, visit the Vintgar gorge…

And for the ones, who prefere city life, there is Radovljica and also Kranj and the capital Ljubljana are not far away.
