Who Am I?  Howard High Alum  University of Maryland College Park Graduate  Degree in Psychology  Grew up in BSAP

Black Student Achievement Program  Mission: The HCPSS Black Student Achievement Program will encourage, promote, and support access to diverse learning opportunities for African American students in collaboration with teachers, administrators, families, and the community.  Vision: Every African American student engages in diverse learning opportunities that motivate, empower and maximize academic access and achievement in an effort to minimize achievement gaps.

Howard High Demographics

BSAP Achievement Liaison  The BSAP Achievement Liaison serves as a resource within HCPSS, and works in collaboration with administrators, staff, families and the community in order to accelerate the academic achievement of all African American students.

BSAP Academic Liaison  Collects, analyzes and monitors student progress through multiple data forms to ensure placement in appropriate programs  Supports students by focusing on learning behaviors that may impact their achievement (organization, taking risks, time management)  Supports students with enhancing their social development  Promotes cultural awareness, diversity, and involvement in enrichment activities  Advocates for students to participate in Honors, GT, AP, and Career and Technology Education

The Council of Elders of the Black Community of Howard County  Formed in 1992 by Gloria Washington Wallace  Became a non profit organization in 1997  THE TCOE has maintained partnership with HCPSS for 24 years  Primary goal is to strengthen, support, recognize, and uplift Black students across all levels of the Howard County School System by eliminating achievement gaps in both academic excellence and student citizenship
