 God’s eyes to see, mouth to speak, and hands to touch ●Eyes to see ▪Word of wisdom ▪Word of knowledge ▪Discerning of spirits  God’s eyes to see, mouth to speak, and hands to touch ●Eyes to see ▪Word of wisdom ▪Word of knowledge ▪Discerning of spirits

●Unbelievers in your gatherings – or people who don’t understand these things ▪Either think you are crazy – or – ▪Secret thoughts exposed, fall to their knees and worship, declaring God is among you ●Unbelievers in your gatherings – or people who don’t understand these things ▪Either think you are crazy – or – ▪Secret thoughts exposed, fall to their knees and worship, declaring God is among you

 Women keep silent ●Does the whole of the New Testament show the exclusion of women from verbal participation in public worship? ●Why were they not allowed to speak? ●Which law is referred to in verse 34? ●Requires rightly dividing the Word ●1 Corinthians 11:5,13 – women praying and prophesying in public ●Acts 2: Peter’s Pentecost sermon – fulfillment of prophecy – sons and daughters will prophecy  Women keep silent ●Does the whole of the New Testament show the exclusion of women from verbal participation in public worship? ●Why were they not allowed to speak? ●Which law is referred to in verse 34? ●Requires rightly dividing the Word ●1 Corinthians 11:5,13 – women praying and prophesying in public ●Acts 2: Peter’s Pentecost sermon – fulfillment of prophecy – sons and daughters will prophecy

 Acts 21:8-9 Philip had four daughters with the gift of prophecy  In the New Testament women, moved by the Spirit, engaged in ministry side by side with men  Context – Paul correcting problems and excess ●Tongues without interpretation ●All at once, not taking turns ●Chaos ●Telling others to be quiet – tongues with no interpretation, and if another receives a revelation the first one must stop  Acts 21:8-9 Philip had four daughters with the gift of prophecy  In the New Testament women, moved by the Spirit, engaged in ministry side by side with men  Context – Paul correcting problems and excess ●Tongues without interpretation ●All at once, not taking turns ●Chaos ●Telling others to be quiet – tongues with no interpretation, and if another receives a revelation the first one must stop

●Submissive as the law says ▪Submission to whom? ▪Submission to the other prophets ▪Submission to principles of orderly services ●Strongly suggests that the problems of disorderly participation in prophetic proclamation and tongues was particularly prominent among the women believers of Corinth ●Silence is not an overall command but for those circumstances – just as tongues without interpretation – or another with a revelation ●Submissive as the law says ▪Submission to whom? ▪Submission to the other prophets ▪Submission to principles of orderly services ●Strongly suggests that the problems of disorderly participation in prophetic proclamation and tongues was particularly prominent among the women believers of Corinth ●Silence is not an overall command but for those circumstances – just as tongues without interpretation – or another with a revelation

Interaction Time  What causes people to be afraid of gifts of the Holy Spirit? What can help overcome those fears?  How about a clinic? Do you think that God would help us learn to know when we have a prophecy, a tongue, an interpretation and exercise those things in a learning environment?  What causes people to be afraid of gifts of the Holy Spirit?  First Thessalonians 5:19-21 says "Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;” How do we quench the Holy Spirit? If something is of the Spirit why are we told to examine everything carefully? If you hold fast to that which is good what do you do with the rest? How do you know what is good and what is not?
