2 Artistic Information Theme:

3 Scope of MobilART Bidirectional objective: the mobility in art as a means to consider, expand or create new artistic trajectories the ways art can enable collective mobilization in culture, politics and, generally, in society towards an increased quality of life in time (from ancient cultures to nowadays) in creativity (from traditional to contemporary concepts) in learning (from static to mobile, High-Tec sources of information) in experiencing (from distant and general to personalized dynamically adaptive, and flexible artistic landscapes) in merging art in everyday life

4 Call for music that …  stems from different cultures of the world set in a contemporary context,  lies upon new forms of structure and conceptualization,  exploits the digital experience of sound through new forms of technology,  embraces the human expressivity through wearable, portable smart objects (sensors),  expresses ideas, intentions, rational trains of thought and other forms of everyday impressions  aims to stimulate the cultural conscience of the society and mobilize its cultural awareness.

5 Place-Date “Mobility” of the theme: Cultural mobilization of different locations in Greece Creation of a kind of “cultural net” that can reverberate a vast amount of people. The realization of ISCM-WMD2008 will be put at a national level and will establish interoperability and collaboration among different cultural sources

6 Place-Date (cont’) Five big cities in Greece,  Athens ( organizational “headquarters”)  Thessaloniki  Patras,  Heraklion (in the Crete island), and  Corfu (in the Corfu island), distributed in distant locations in the Greek territory

7 Place-Date (cont’) Athens (where the ISCM Greek Section is situated), which will host the opening and closing events. Train, boat and airplane transportation will be involved, combining “mobile events”, like “sound boat”, “sound train”, and “sound plane”.

8 Place-Date (cont’) In order to predict “weather alliance”, the proposed date is from Friday 19 until Sunday 28 September 2008, establishing a 10- day mega-event.

16 Additionally… Educational seminars and symposiums Special thematic topics relating with the aesthetics, political aspects of the oeuvre of prolific: Greek composers (Skalkotas, Christou, Xenakis, Theodorakis) international composers (Gubaidulina, Ligeti, Ferneyhough) Cross-media creative endeavours (video/noise on-the-(air)fly!) MobilArt Marathon (young composers participate on a real- time joint compositional activity of musical metres (bars!)

18 General Assembly The General Assembly will take place on 22, 23 (Crete) and 25, 26 (Athens) September 2008 each morning Expenses support to the ExCom and Delegates (if still valid) will be covered by the organizers from 22nd until the 26th of September September there should be a “floating” free discussion in smaller groups during the boat trip from Crete to Athens All related facilities, like premises, translations, administrative support, etc, will be provided in order to facilitate the General Assembly during its meetings

19 Dissemination or ‘Media Mobilization!’ All concerts will be professionally recorded so they could be broadcast nationally (Radio, WebRadio, TV) and at a European level through EBU Webcasting through the Internet will be arranged Selected events will be transmitted to mobile users via 3G i-Mode (University & COSMOTE Telecom collaboration) Daily press cover will be arranged and a daily newsletter will be published Electronic newsletters and updated information for the whole event will be posted at the event site, i.e., and relevant mailing lists

20 Dissemination or ‘Media Mobilization!’ (cont’) A series of SMSs will be sent to COSMOTE and all i-Mode subscribers informing them about the events The option of tele-voting will be considered for vast participation in the selection of the ISCM-CASH Young Composer Award, increasing its public awareness (nationally-SMS/Web, internationally-Web) Exhibitions of artistic materials (scores, tapes, videos, DVDs etc) will be organized in all five cities participating in the hosting of ISCM-WMD2008, aiming at a fusion of local and international creation Special care will be taken for the disabled/elderly people, in order to facilitate their event attendance
