Cells. What are cells?  Cells are the basic units of all living things (plants, animals and humans)  Cells are not exactly the same in their shape and.
Or: how organelles work together to carry out life functions
 The energy that cells need comes originally from the sun  Chloroplasts in plant cells trap light energy from the sun and change it into chemical energy.
What are the building blocks of life? All living things are made of cells. A cell is the smallest unit of a living thing. Cells are too small to be seen.

Cell The smallest unit of a living thing that can perform all life processes.

Nucleus The control center for the cell

Cytoplasm Contains the things that the cell needs to carry out its life processes

Chloroplast The special parts in plant cells that trap the Sun’s energy

Genus A group of closely related living things.

Species A group of similar organisms that can mate and produce offspring that can also produce offspring A horse and donkey are different species, but their offspring, called a mule, cannot reproduce.

Vertebrates Animals with backbones

Vertebrates

Invertebrates Animals without backbones
