How it was founded? Latvian Traders’ Association was founded in In 1934 President of Latvia Kārlis Ulmanis liquidated all unions. In 1994 the union is renewed as Latvian Traders Association

Development in reconstituted Latvia In 1994 union was renewed by 80 traders In 1998 it joined «Eurocommerce» of European Union In 2012 it represents 800 traders – from the most important until micro-enterprises in all regions of Latvia

Lost debt writing off is eased, because it is allowed to decrease the amount of taxable income equal to lost amount of money from debtors, when claiming of debt in court is not possible; Monopoly of alcohol trade is averted and continuous fight against such monopoly is maintained; Averted unjustified restrictions (zoning) of alcohol trade in Riga; Report journals about surplus of alcohol are canceled; invoices on alcoholic drinks and tobacco products can be registered in the same registers, where other goods are registered; In trade norms of lost alcohol are defined Regulation of water monitoring in food trade enterprises is canceled; Verification of glass measurement glasses and thermometers is canceled, but verification of other measurement tools is defined to be more rare; Request to confiscate goods for minor breaches in trade of excise goods is canceled; It is allowed to set up storage for customers’ possessions inside shops; Price can be placed on the good itself, its packaging or in price tag; Customer requests must be reviewed within 10 days; in case of trader’s rejection, good does not have to be sent to investigation in all situations; Latvian Traders’ Association’s main achievements

Simplified report of statistic forms (from 2005); Simplified marking of goods; Qualification requirements for workers of catering and food selling industry are canceled; Fee for repeated inspection of cars transporting foodstuff is canceled; Information from CSP about retail turnover and subsistence level is sent on regular basis; AKKA/LAA fees for playback of music in the premises of shops are reduced; Request from Latvian Sworn auditors about minimal remuneration in amount of 500 LVL about sworn auditor’s services for inspection of annual report is canceled; Agreement of commerce banks about commission fee for payment in shops with payment cards is terminated.
