School & Fiction OVOSODO (1997) by Paolo Virzì It is the story of an ordinary boy living in the Tuscan city of Leghorn. His name is Piero Malsani, the son of a former port worker who goes in and out of jail. He lives with his retarded brother and a young stepmother in a popular block of flats among clothes hanging out and people shouting out of windows.

The teacher, calling them on, appoint pupils as "sons of..." - doctors, lawyers,- admirals. The redemption of the young Piero takes place when, having to go through a kind of "initiation" by the older students, reacts in his abrupt, but effective way.
