Cutting teacher-librarians is the same as throwing out the text books in our schools! Without either of them our education system will be not be as strong!

Over the past 20 years there have been many long-term empirically-based studies that have consistently shown a strong link between higher student achievement and teacher librarians, but many people in the world of education are unfamiliar with them. Over the past 20 years there have been many long-term empirically-based studies that have consistently shown a strong link between higher student achievement and teacher librarians, but many people in the world of education are unfamiliar with them.

Today I will show you how and why teacher-librarians strengthen our education system!

1. Librarians provide invaluable professional development for teachers.

2. Librarians are important members of vital school committees that drive student learning.

3. Librarians are partners with our teachers in educating students, developing curricula and integrating resources.

4. Teacher-librarians have a longer lasting educational relationship with students compared to most classroom teachers.

5. Librarians play an intricate role in promoting and developing free or autonomous reading in our student population.

6. Librarians can help ESL students achieve higher standards

7. Teacher-librarians provide up- to-date diverse resources to meet the curriculum's informational needs.

8. Teacher-librarians help bridge the achievement gap at the elementary school level.

9. The presence of librarians in a school help students achieve better test results.

KEEP OUR LIBRARIANS IN THE LIBRARY AND HELP OUR STUDENTS GET MORE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES!

Thank you !
