Presentation transcript:

Unit 1 My Wonderful Body  Know the different parts of the body  Understand the skeleton, muscles  Understand that our heart pumps blood to all the parts of our body  Understand how we breath  Understand what happened to food after we eat.  Know that a large part of our body is made up of water.

Unit 2 Amazing Animals!  Recognize different kinds of habitats  Identify characteristics of animals that enable to survive in their habitats  Identify useful animals and understand why they are useful  Identify harmful animals and understand why they are harmful

Unit 3 Plants  Recognize different kinds of animals and the plants that line in.  Identify useful plants and understand why they are useful  Identify harmful plants and understand why they are harmful

Unit 4 Air  Recognize the different uses of air.  Know what wind is and what its uses are.  Recognize that air is needed for burning.  Distinguish between clear air an polluted air.

Unit 5 Water  Recognize that water can exist in different states.  Observe what happens when some subtances are mixed with water.

Unit 6 In the ground  Classify rocks according to their size, shape, color, pattern, texture and hardness.  Understand that there are many objects around us that are made of rock.  Understand the importance of soil.

Unit 8 The seasons  Know the four seasons.  Observe and describe weather conditions associated with each season.  Understand how season affect us, in terms of how we dress and the kinds of activities that we can do.

Unit 9 Light and Shadow  Understand that light needs to enter our eyes for us to see.  Understand that it is harmful to aim a light source directly at someone’s eyes.  Understand how shadows are formed.

Unit 10 Heat  Recognize methods of producing heat.  Observe safety measures when handling fire.  Observe that heat can change an object’s size, shape, texture or color.

Unit 11 Sounds  Understand that sound is produced by vibrating objects.  Understand that sound travels away from the source, getting fainter as it does so.

Unit 12 Non-living things Observe whether objects sink or float in water. Recognize that some objects can be made from living things. Classify objects according to their size, shape, color and texture.

Unit 13 Forces  Understand that the position and motion of an object can be changed by pushing or pulling it.  Understand that an object can change in shape when it is subjected to forces such as pounding, pressing, stretching, twisting and bending.

Unit 14 Tools help us  Recognize some common tools in the house.  Understand that parts of a tool work together to do something that they cannot do individually. Recognize that since the parts of a system usually influence one another, a system may not work if a component is missing.

Unit 15 Electricity  Understand that some objects need batteries to work.  Know that batteries come in different shapes and sizes.  Know the different parts of a circuit.  Understand that electrical circuits require a complete loop through which an electrical current can pass. If any part of the circuit is missing, it will not work.

Unit 16 Magnets  Recognize that magnets can attract some objects  Recognize that magnets cannot attract some objects.  Understand that magnets attract certain kinds of materials.  Know some uses of magnets.  Observe that magnets can make some objects move without them.
