Supporting Today’s New Teachers MSDE Induction Coordinators Meeting February 25, 2014 Office of Talent Development

Essential Questions Who are the new teachers entering the profession and how prepared are we for them? What skills and expertise do today’s new teachers bring to the profession? What are the implications for teacher preparation, new teacher induction and new teacher support? Do we have a limited window of time to build their capacity?

Perception vs. Reality Sometimes we have to take another look at what we think we know.
