BABE BABE RUTH The Legend in Baseball History

IT’S A BOY Babe Ruth began life in Baltimore, February 6, His mom’s name was Kate, and his dad George worked at a saloon that Babe hung out at.

When Babe was able to go to school he decided not to, and he hung with a gang on the sidewalk. They chewed tobacco, stole whiskey from his dad’s saloon, and committed vandalism.

In Babe’s dad saloon, the cops had to break up a fight. An adult saw Babe there and reported it straight to the police. Babe was sent to St. Mary’s Industrial School.

BEST HITTER At St. Mary’s every kid had to play a sport. Babe picked baseball. Babe was one of the best hitters at St. Mary’s. St. Mary’s baseball team was hard to beat.

MONEY During one game Babe was making fun of the pitcher. The pitcher came up to him and said, “You pitch!” Babe’s jaw dropped. He did not know how to pitch. Babe pitch better than the whole team! Jack Dunn, the owner of the Baltimore Orioles, was watching Babe pitch. After the game, he asked Ruth if he wanted to sign a 600 dollar contract.

When babe was 13, his mother died. His dad told his brother Matthias to keep him at St. Mary's until he was 21, an a offical adult. In 1914 Jack Dunn paid a visit.

Brother Matthias and Jack talked for a while. When they were done talking, Jack became Babe’s legal guardian. Babe got his name from his teammates because he was a rookie in major league.

Warhop delivered a pitch to Babe. Babe swung. He hit the ball squarely, “CRACK!” BABE HIT HIS FIRST BIG LEAGUE HOMERUN IN 1915.

BABE GOT ASKED TO SIGN A TEN THOUSAND DOLLAR CONTRACT FOR A SEASON FOR THREE YEARS. THAT’S WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST CONTRACTS IN BASEBALL. BABE REPORTED TO CAMP IN TAMPA, FLORIDA AND IMMEDIATELY GOT EVERYONE’S ATTENTION.

The Yankees were on there way back to New York City when Babe complained of stomach cramps. He collapsed on a train platform in North Carolina. Rumors swept the country that he had died.

Babe wasn’t just back. He was all they way back and cracking 47 homeruns.

DEATH Babe died on August 16, 1948 with an unfilled dream. Babe was the tough kid who grew up to become the greatest slugger in baseball history.
