LORD VOLDEMORT He is also known as He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named or You-Know-Who, because of the fear of his real name.

THE PAST In the past, he used to be known as Tom Riddle, son of Tom Riddle and Merope Gaunt. Unfortunately, his father abandoned his mother and she was forced to raise the baby on her own. After a while, she had to deliver the baby to an orphanage, because of a serious illness, which caused her death. During the years Tom was there, he was known for his strange activities, such as his special relationship with snakes. He also enjoyed frightening the other children.

THE CALL One day, a man by the name Albus Dumbledore came to the orphanage and asked to meet Tom. He tried to explain to him that he had special magical abilities and that he had to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizarding. Originally, Tom refused, but in the end, he came to terms with Dumbledore’s proposal.

THE LIFE IN HOGWARTS Tom soon became popular among his classmates mostly thanks to his incredible intelligence. One day, he asked his potion professor about the meaning of the Horcruxes. He found out that Horcrux is called an object, in which someone hides a piece of his soul. Therefore, he has to kill his own father, in order to divide his soul to seven pieces; six of them are objects, while the seventh is hidden in his body. After this, he was no longer called Tom Riddle; his new name was Lord Voldemort.

THE CONCERN FOR THE PROPHECY A long time later, he discovered that there’s a prophecy referring to him and to a boy called Harry Potter. The prophecy said that neither could leave, while the other survived. It meant that one of them was going to kill the other in the end. Indeed that happened. Harry destroyed all Horcruxes and killed Voldemort.
