Tennessee Valley Chapter Space and Missile Defense Working Group (SMDWG) Charter Background The SMDWG is formed to respond to our civic responsibility to assist in the decision making process on issues pertaining to space and ballistic missile defense. Scope The Scope of the SMDWG is to Educate the general population and elected representation on space and ballistic missile defense. Membership Membership is open to all individuals in government, industry, and the community. SMDWG members must belong to the NDIA or an affiliate. SMDWG Charter

Tennessee Valley Chapter Guest Introduction Introduction of Special Guest Mr. John London Chief Engineer Space and Strategic Systems Directorate Space and Missile Defense Command U.S. Army

Tennessee Valley Chapter John London John R. London III is currently assigned to the US Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC), Redstone Arsenal, AL. He is assigned to SMDC’s Space and Strategic Systems Directorate as Chief Engineer. London is a retired Air Force officer, and served in positions with Air Force Logistics Command, Air Force Systems Command, Air Force Materiel Command, the National Reconnaissance Office, and the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization.

Tennessee Valley Chapter John London He is the author of a number of publications, including the book LEO on the Cheap - Methods for Achieving Drastic Reductions in Space Launch Costs. After retiring from the Air Force he accepted a position with NASA at the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL serving in a variety of advanced space transportation technology jobs. He accepted his current position with Army SMDC in London and his wife, the former Joyce Low of Oklahoma City, reside in Madison, AL. They have nine children and three grandchildren.
