Presentation transcript:

WHO IS HAPPIER???

Once a fisherman was sitting near seashore, under the shadow of a tree smoking his cigarette.

Suddenly a rich businessman passing by approached him and enquired as to why he was sitting under a tree smoking and not working. To this the poor fisherman replied that he had caught enough fishes for the day.

The businessman then asked, but what do you do with the rest of your time? The fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a nap with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my friends; I have a full and busy life."

Hearing this the rich man got angry and said, “Why don’t you catch more fishes instead of sitting in shadow wasting your time?” Fisherman asked, “What would I do by catching more fishes?”

Businessman: You could catch more fishes, sell them and earn more money, and buy a bigger boat. Fisherman: What would I do then?

Businessman: You could go fishing in deep waters and catch even more fishes and earn even more money. Fisherman: What would I do then?

Businessman: You could buy many boats and employ many people to work for you and earn even more money. Fisherman: What would I do then?

Businessman: You could become a rich businessman like me. Fisherman: What would I do then?

Businessman: "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little. You could then enjoy your life peacefully."

"Isn't that what I'm doing right now?"

You don’t even need to be more rich, more powerful to enjoy life. LIFE is at this moment, enjoy it fully. Moral # 1 : You don’t need to wait for tomorrow to be happy and enjoy your life.

Moral # 2 : One should be satisfied with what one has. If someone is not satisfied one should look at those people who have nothing or the children who live on the streets who know that they have a break future but that does not stop them from enjoying themselves in the rains!!!!!!

Not money, not assets, not things, not stuff. Friends, family, relationships. We neglect and even destroy important relationships and we hurt people we love because of our pride, our selfishness and our need to be right. We tell ourselves we’re right and we hurt others, we paralyze ourselves emotionally, we kill relationships, we make ourselves sick and in all of it, there are no positives to be found! Moral # 3 : People matter the most.

As some great men have said “My riches consist not in extent of my possessions but in the fewness of my wants”.

While it is true that one's riches consists not in the extent of his/her possessions but in fewness of his/her wants, but an individual's progess will rarely happen without the clamour for possession (whether it is wealth, power or fame). At the same time, the Golden rule that one should be happy with what he/she has or gets which alone will provide happiness and peace of mind will hold good on many occasions in day-to-day life, especially when you get your annual increments Good Luck!
