Forest Facts: Participation & Recreation Over 45 new sport and recreation facilities have been created including fishing, mountain biking, orienteering, carriage driving, cross country horseriding and sledging. It is estimated that 13% of adults and 13% of children who participate in the Forest’s creation each year are from socially excluded groups.

TOURISM 7.5 million tourists are visiting The National Forest each year, generating £250m into local economy 268,000 children have enjoyed environmental education sessions at Rosliston Forestry Centre and Conkers Over 4000 jobs are supported

Forest Facts: Volunteering Over 17,500 workdays have been undertaken in the Forest since 1997 by British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.

Forest Facts: Health Over 18,000 people have taken part in physical activity through ‘Get Active’ and Rosliston Forestry Centre.
