The Benjamin Y. H. Liu Award American Association for Aerosol Research

The Benjamin Y. H. Liu Award “recognizes outstanding contributions to aerosol instrumentation and experimental techniques that have significantly advanced the science and technology of aerosols”. This award honors Benjamin Y. H. Liu for his leadership in the aerosol community and his own seminal contributions to aerosol science through instrumentation and experimental research.

2013 Recipients of the Benjamin Y. H. Liu Award W. Patrick Arnott, University of Nevada Reno Hans Moosmüller, Desert Research Institute Arnott: PhD, Washington State University, 1988, Professor of Physics and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Nevada Reno Moosmüller: PhD, Colorado State University, 1988, Research Professor, Desert Research Institute “…jointly developed 11 aerosol research instruments and techniques including single and multi-wavelength photoacoustic instruments for measurement and characterization of aerosol light absorption…” “Numerous publications are now available from the researchers who …have deployed them in almost every continent to document the evolution and impact of light-absorbing carbon.” “The breadth and depth of their research and its impact on our understanding of real-world problems like climate, air quality, and exposure is unsurpassed.” Jointly published 49 peer-reviewed papers with a combined total of more than 100 peer reviewed papers and nine patents.
