Overview of the MD8 final release install MD8 latest release.b7 was downloaded from GCMD and installed with Oracle 8i and the LDA package was also configured. / LDA wont be a part of the installAnywhere package in the future. The final module is working with the following third-party packages. –Java1.4.2 –Jakarta-Tomcat for running servlets –Jakarta-Ant package (build tool) instead of Gmake or Make –Apache web server to serve static content –Jakarta-tomcat-apache-connector to enable to serve servlets through port 80. –MDIsite –Oracle 8i The database server

Use MDIsite for Full-text Search MD8-Isite offers a full-text/fielded-text Boolean search with spatial/temporal coverage search capabilities. MD8-Isite distribution includes the entire MD8 XML DIF (data set descriptions) and supplementary information (instruments, platforms, projects, data centers) collections. The full functionality for searching data on griddata the MDIsite v8.07 package was downloaded for b7 release of MD8 and configured with Xalan-C++ and Xerces-C++ modules which is enable search and free text search.

MD8 Local Database Agent LDA for MD8 final release has downloaded and configured. Synchronization test with helium.gsfc.nasa.gov has been done and checked its effects in the modifications of UN DIFs Personnel records.

Database Mirroring outcome Mirroring tests on MD8 databases. Oracle Database NLS_LANG parameter must be changed in Grid Budapest to make accented characters store in the databse. 90 UN DIFs Personnel records were modified and most of the links in the DIFs were updated and the LDA jsync is working.

PostgreSQL with MD8 / MD9 Some modifications were needed in the install SQL database creation scripts. -Datatypes like Varchar2 - Varchar, Long – Text. -Increase Length of some fields on a table. -OID tablename is used instead of MD_OID Import is done successfully using the Database Importer module, and loading data from db_mddba_export.jar file, which is available for download.

Database connections MD8 modify DatabaseImporter.java DATABASE_URL using Oracle Database: - DATABASE_URL using PostgreSQL: -jdbc:postgresql://hostname:5432:database_sid MD9 using the import script to load data to PostgreSQL and add postgresql.jar to the CLASSPATH. Modification the importer scripts. DATABASE_URL using PostgreSQL: -jdbc:postgresql://hostname:5432:database_sid –userid – password –exportfile

MD8 and MD9 SQL scripts for PostgreSQL database creation and database import scripts are ready for integration with the installer. As for MD8b7 is the final release of the 8 version the production server of UNEP / Grid Budapest can be reachable:

Future Plan MD9 with PostgreSQL scripts take part in the Installer. Testing the further release of MD9 and its LDA mirroring activities. Installing and using Oracle 9i / PostgreSQL as the major background databases.
