Planet Earth

 Hydrosphere  Lithosphere  Atmosphere  Biosphere  Continental Shelf

 Earth is part of our solar system, which is made up of the sun and all of the countless objects that revolve around it.  At the center is the sun- a star, or ball of burning gases. 109 times wider than Earth.

 The sun creates a strong pull of gravity that keeps all the planets revolving around it.

 Terrestrial planets- Solid, Rocky crust. -Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. -Closer to the Sun Gas Giant planets- Gassy and less dense. -Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. - Farther from the Sun

 Mercury and Venus are scalding hot.  Earth only planet that has liquid on surface.  Mars is a cold barren desert.  Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are all gaseous so they are inhabitable.

 Asteroids- small irregularly shaped planet like objects.  Comets- icy dust particles and frozen gases that look like bright balls with long feather tails.  Meteoroids- space debris, chunks of rock and iron

 Hydrosphere- Water  Lithosphere- Land  Atmosphere- Air we breathe 6000 miles up  Biosphere- part of earth that supports life( people, animals, and plants)

 Continental Shelf- Part of the continent that extends underwater.

 Mount Everest- Highest point on the Earth located in South Asia. (29,035 feet)  Dead Sea- Lowest Point on dry land in South West Asia (1,349 feet below sea level).  Mariana Trench- Deepest part of Earth. Underwater Canyon located in the Pacific Ocean near Guam (35,827 feet deep).
