Chapter 9 – Data quality assurance and metadata Results of the second worldwide consultation

Chapter objectives: -to describe the elements for data quality assurance and provide recommendations on data quality -To provide reference for the preparation of metadata

Chapter contents A.Quality and its dimensions – Dimension of quality (static and dynamic elements ) – Provide guidance on data quality assurance framework B.Quality measure and indicators – Basic information on quality measures, and indicators – Provide a reference list of quality indicators C.Metadata on energy statistics – Introduce basic concepts on metadata – Provide a template for types of metadata that should accompany statistical products

Result of the WWC - summary Question 9.1: Do you overall agree with the content of this chapter and its recommendations? Question 9.2: Do you overall agree with the set of quality indicators presented in Table 9.2? Question 9.4: Do you overall agree with the template for accompanying metadata presented in para. 9.27?

WWC – comments received Some 17 comments received From the comments we have identified – 10 issues for which we need the opinion of the Expert Group; and – 7 straightforward issues (editorial and other) for which the Expert Group is also invited to comment.

Discussion A list of issues brought up by the respondents to the 2 nd WWC has been prepared and presented to the Expert Group. Members of the expert group are invited to provide their opinions on the presented issues.
