Key Questions 1. What was Alfred Wegner’s theory? 2. What is continental drift? 3. What evidence supports continental drift? 4. Why was Alfred Wegener’s theory not accepted? 5. What is Pangaea?

Alfred Wegener The theory of plate tectonics was pioneered by Alfred Wegener in the early 20th C. Died 1930 returning from rescue mission in Greenland.

1.Alfred Wegner’s theory was continental drift. 2.Continental drift is the theory that continents drift apart from one another and have done so in the past. 3.The evidence that supports continental drift is the continents fit together like the pieces of a puzzle, fossil record, and glacial grooves 4. Wegener’s theory was not accepted because he could not prove how the continents moved 5.Pangaea is the supercontinent where all continents were one landmass
