Presentation transcript:

 What is adolescent obesity? Adolescent obesity is a condition where excess body fat negatively affects a child’s health and wellbeing it is determined by their BMI (body mass index).

 Many factors influence body weight such as genes, poor diets, too little physical activity and too much television watching.  The harmful affects are high cholesterol, high blood sugar, early heart disease, diabetes, skin conditions, and bone problems.

 The purpose of this campaign is to inform adolescent about the harmful affects of eating bad food and not being active daily.

 We want to target children ranging from the age Obesity is harmful and it can also affect adults too but to stop it we must tell adolescent about it before they enter adulthood before it’s too late.

 2010, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese.  The percentage of children aged 6-11 years old in the U.S who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to 18% in 2010 and aged 12–19 years who were obese increased from 5% to 18% over the same period.

 Our goals is to inform those who are affected and those who are not and to spread the word to other’s.  We also want to inform other states and countries not just the Untied States.

 To help us inform people about childhood obesity we will be fund raising to help building a children gym/ activity center. By selling t-shirts and selling tickets for people to run in a obesity awareness race. We will also rent out a local park where we will have fun activity games such as (tag a war, basketball etc.) and giving out health snacks & drinks

 $1,200 would go to activities (23,800)  $3,600 will go to make shirts (20,300)  $4,000 will go to advertising (16,300)  $300 each will go to the 12 workers(12,700)

 Choosing healthier foods (whole grains, fruits and vegetables, healthy fats and protein sources) and beverages  Limiting unhealthy foods (refined grains and sweets, potatoes, red meat, processed meat) and beverages (sugary drinks)  Increasing physical activity  Limiting television time, screen time, and other “sit time”  Improving sleep  Reducing stress
