Short Lesson on Stocks What’s a stock?  It represents ownership of a company's assets and profits. Why do a stock go up?  Demand of the stock When more people are trying to buy a stock than want to sell it at the current price.  When the market's expectation of future earnings for a company goes up. Why invest?  Make more money than you would with bank’s current low interest rate of 1.49% All investments involve risk, but risk is minimized when you practice safe investing correctly. Diversify your portfolio - One way to reduce your risk.

Lesson (Buy + Sell) Quantity x Price = Cost (Before) Buy 100 shares x $10 = $1000 (After) Sell 100 shares x $20 = $2000  Profit = $1000 (not including commission)
