Jalapeño Bagels Vocabulary

Bakery A place where bread, pies, cakes, and pastries are made or sold. Example: We went to the bakery to buy a cake.

Ingredients The parts of a mixture. Example: In order to bake a cake, we needed all of the ingredients.

Batch A quantity of something made at the same time. Example: I made a batch of cookies for the party.

Mixture A mixed condition. Example: I made a mixture of corn syrup, condensed milk, brown sugar, and vanilla to make to caramel chews.

Dough A soft, thick mixture of flour, liquid, and other things from which bread, biscuits, cake, and pie crusts are made. Example: I mixed up some dough and made some homemade bread.

Knead A press or mix together dough or clay into a soft mass. Example: In order to make bread, you have to knead the dough.

Braided Woven or twined together. Example: I had a piece of braided bread with honey for dessert.

Boils Causes liquid to bubble and give off steam by heating it. Example: You will know when it is time to add the pasta to the pot when the water boils.
