The Congo

Important people in Congo  The president of Congo-On November 27, 2006, Joseph Kabila was confirmed as President following the July 2006.

People of the Congo Rainforest - the "Pygmies "  Today the African rainforest is home to some of the most celebrated tribal people, the so-called Pygmies of the Ituri forest in northern Zaire. The tallest of these people, known as the Mbuti, rarely exceed 5 feet (1.5 m) in height.

Important places of the Congo  Besides the Mbuti, there are three other major rainforest peoples of Africa: the Aka (Central African Republic and northern Congo), the Baka (southern Cameroon), and the Twa (central Zaire river basin).  The Congo River formerly the Zaire River is Africa's most powerful river and the second most voluminous river in the world with a discharge of 1,500,000 cubic feet of water per second. It is the fifth longest river in the world, draining a basin of nearly 1.5 million square miles.

Congo’s physical features that can attract tourists.  The Congo river plays an important role in Congo's physical features because the river and surrounding rainforest have long been known as the mysterious land of pygmies, mythical beasts, dreadful plagues, and cannibals, and that can attract tourists.

People of the Congo  The people of the rainforest have learned how to use the plants and animals of the rainforest without harming it. They have taught us about many of the foods and medicines from the rainforest that we use today. Through thousands of years of living in the rainforest, rainforest people have adapted to the rainforest climate. They don't need to drink a lot of water because they get so much water in the foods they eat. Rainforest people sweat less than other people because the air is so full of moisture that sweating doesn't cool their bodies very well.

Find It  Which of these contain a Congo animal?

Geographic features  The Congo is about the size of the state of Montana. It is hot and very humid with high rainfall. The Congo's entire eastern and southern borders are washed by the Congo River.  The major exports are copper, cobalt, diamonds, crude oil and coffee.

Foods and religion  Their foods are cassava, rice, potatoes, bananas, yams, beans, corn, fish, peanuts, and various fruits and vegetables. Common fruits include mangoes, oranges, pawpaws, and coconuts. Sugar cane also is grown in Congo. Malnutrition and saturation affect up to 10 percent of the nation's children.  Denominations include Roman Catholic 55%, Protestant (including Kimbanguism) 35%, Muslim 5%, Animism 2.4%, Baha’i 0.4%, Hindu 0.2%, and other 1.2%

Language and Tradition  French, Lingala, Kikongo, Sangha, Bateke and 60 others.  The peoples of Congo believe in voodoo.

Find It  Which one of these shapes contain art from Congo ? 

Music music musiclike  Many sub-Saharan languages do not have a word for rhythm, or even music..... Also has lots of other types of drums, and lots of flutes, and lots of stringed... Many genres of popular music like blues, jazz and rumba derive are what they listen to.
