Re-arrranging equations Make ‘x’ the subject Re-arrranging equations

It’s all about opposites ‘Inverses’ as we like to call them

If you make something the subject then…. It will be on the left hand side of the equation and ‘equal to’ something

Make ‘a’ the subject of v = u + at Take ‘u’ from each side v – u = at Then divide by ‘t’ v – u = a t

But it isn’t ‘a = ….’ So flip it

‘flipped’ gives us a = v – u t v – u = a t ‘flipped’ gives us a = v – u t

Make ‘x’ the subject of v2 = u2 +2ax Take away u2 v2 - u2 = 2ax Divide by ‘2a’ v2 - u2 = x 2a

Flip it! x = v2 - u2 2a
