Nuclear disaster 3 mile

History In 1979 at three mile nuclear power plant which is in the united states. A cooling malfunction caused part of the core to melt in the second reactor. A couple of days after the accident some radioactive gas was released, but not enough to cause any evacuation to local residence.

Facts The accident began around 4 a.m. A mechanical or electrical failure prevented the main feedwater pumps from sending water to the steam generators that remove heat from the reactor core. The NRC hired men to fly helicopters above the site to see if any radiation was found in the air. The NRC had to make huge changes to there nuclear plant but the most important was it new design and stronger equipment. There were no injuries or health effects from the 3 mile nuclear disaster
