What is a Source Card? A source card has a statement you plan to use to strengthen the ideas in your paragraphs.

Sources for a Research Paper Research paper must have: At least three different sources which will appear as WORKS CITED entries in the bibliography.

Source Cards New Source = New Card For each source you use, you will need to create a source card. New Source = New Card

Source Cards Each source card should include information about the source: Author Title Publisher Year Author’s Last Name, First Name Middle Initial. Title of Book. City of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.

Copy this Format Down Author’s Last Name, First Name Middle Initial. Title of Book. City of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.

What Goes On a Source Card? Information you did not know about your topic that you get from another author

How to Take Another Author’s Information: Paraphrase Summarize Quote DON’T PLAGIARIZE!!!!

PLAGIARISM It's like lip-synching to someone else's voice and accepting the applause and rewards for yourself. IF YOU PLAGIARIZE, YOU WILL FAIL!!! …any time you take a writer’s words and use them as your own, you are plagiarizing

Using Another Writer’s Words as Your Own… the RIGHT Way! Paraphrase/Summarize Direct Quote with Citation Include your own thoughts about what the writer has to say ALWAYS GIVE THE CREDIT TO THE REAL AUTHOR!

On Your Own: Complete 3 Source Cards for The Giver relating to the idea of DYSTOPIA (a society that is not perfect): 1 Paraphrase 1 Direct Quotation 1 Summary

From the Text (Direct Quote, Paraphrase) Reading from The Giver Complete Double Entry Journals during the reading time Page # From the Text (Direct Quote, Paraphrase) My Thoughts
