Five Types Forests

Forests Smokies are made up of many short peaks and ridges that are diversely forested. Unlike the Himalayas that are treeless, relatively young, and have 14 of the worlds highest peaks.

5 types of forests 1.Spruce Fir-above 4,500 ft (esp 5,500). Trees- red spruce, Frasier fir, yellow birch, mountain ash, hobblebush, blackberries. Balsam wooly Adelgid has killed up to 95% of f. firs. Canada

5 forests 2. Northern Hardwood-middle to upper elevations(3,500- 5,000 ft) New England type forest. Sugar Maple, American Beech, Yellow Birch. Great colors. Every 1000 ft elev.=250 miles N.
